Photography Contest Rules - read before submitting a photo

The Basics
- Best photographer will receive a $200 shopping spree at The Cornell Store (one visit) or the campus store website (one visit).
- Runner Up will receive a $100 shopping spree at The Cornell Store (one visit) or the campus store website (one visit).
- Photos must have been taken by the person submitting them (photos taken OF YOU are not eligible to be submitted BY YOU unless they were taken with a tripod and a timer).
- ANYONE (at any experience level) is eligible to enter, so tell all of your friends!!!
- Photos will be judged on subject matter (must be animal career related) and creativity as well as composition and clarity. See Details
- All submissions have the chance to be used on our website, Facebook page, and other marketing materials.
The Details
- Submissions must be in digital (.jpg) format.
- Name of file must contain letters, numbers, underline characters and periods only, with NO SPACES or special characters.
- MINIMUM photo size 1024 x 768 at 200ppi.
- Maximum file size: 2MB.
- Limit of 5 photos per person - must be original works of the person submitting the photos.
- Each entry must be submitted separately, with a unique photo description.
- Youth entries will also require a signed permission form (see below).
- While the photos you enter should depict an adult in an animal related career, we understand that there could be a young person in the photo as well. Entries depicting a person under the age of 18 will also require a signed permission form from the subject's parents.
- We expect to announce a winner on February 10, 2012; however, we reserve the right to extend the contest deadline and the announcement date, if necessary.
The Legal Stuff
By submitting photographs, entrants are agreeing to grant us use of the photographs in our animal careers website, displays, and printed publications. We retain the right to use both winning and non-winning photos to promote animal careers, without compensation to the photographer. Once submitted, photos become the property of Cornell University.
The contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify entries that do not conform to the stated contest rules and criteria. By participating in the contest, you agree to abide by the criteria, and it is your responsibility to ensure that you have so complied. The determination of the winners will be final and binding in all matters relating to this contest.
Members of the Animal Careers project team and their families are not allowed to submit photos for this contest.
NOTE: If you are under 18 years of age, you must print a Permission Form, have it signed by one of your parents and scan/email it or fax it back to us. Alternatively, you may mail it to us:
